Alarming News: U.S. Life Expectancy Declines Again, A Dismal Trend Not Seen Since World War I (Washington Post)
The shocking CDC announcement that U.S. life expectancy has declined for 3 years has added extra urgency to the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit, a gathering of policymakers, experts, innovators and others who will discuss the most effective public health solutions.

Fact Check: It did work. Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC spent $110 million on Democratic house candidates, and 21 of 24 Democratic House candidates won their races (18 of 21 winners are women). In the Mississippi Senate race, Bloomberg spent $2,700 to support Hyde-Smith’s challenger, Mike Espy.

A Milestone in China’s Bond Markets: Foreign institutional investors can now enter the Chinese bond market via Bloomberg terminals connected with China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) trading platforms, China’s central bank says in statement.

“This is yet another milestone in the opening up of China’s financial markets,” Peter Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg L.P. “Global investors will be encouraged by the additional access and efficiency to trade in China’s bond market, which will drive further foreign participation. We look forward to working with CFETS and all other parties to advance China’s pace of reform and bond market development.”
