Federal prosecutors charged two men for allegedly bringing improvised explosive devices to a protest outside the mayor’s residence in New York, in what authorities described as an act of “ISIS-inspired” terrorism.

Remaking the Federal Government: After Slashing Federal Jobs, Trump Administration Ramps Up Hiring (Washington Post)
The hiring push is unfolding under new rules designed to give the White House greater influence over the government’s 2-million person civilian workforce. The administration has lifted restrictions imposed during last year’s reductions and created job classifications that make it easier to hire — and fire — employees aligned with the president’s priorities.
Some job postings now reflect that ideological framing. An immigration services officer position titled “Homeland Defender” urges applicants to be ready to “protect your homeland and defend your culture.” Prospective hires must explain how they would advance Trump’s executive orders and policy priorities.

Dispatch from an Enduring Tradition: A Front-Row Seat for Duke-UNC at Cameron: Body Paint, Chanting Crazies and CBB’s Best Rivalry (The Athletic)

The best seats in Cameron go to the students. Opponents inbound the ball close enough for the Cameron Crazies to come inches from touching their jerseys, waving bad vibes in their direction and rooting for an errant pass.
I’ve never seen a game anywhere like Cameron. And it’s just as loud — consistently and at peak moments — as anything I’ve heard in any other building that hosts college basketball games, Ubben writes.
