With Hassett, Trump would have a close ally whom the president knows well and trusts installed at the independent central bank. Hassett is seen as someone who would bring the president’s approach to interest rate cutting to the Fed, which Trump has long wanted to control, according to people familiar with the matter.
Security Ramp Up: US House to Provide Lawmakers $20K Monthly for Personal Protection Amid Rising Threats (Axios)
The US House will dramatically increase the amount of money available to its members for their personal security as part of a new program launching next month, according to an email to congressional offices obtained by Axios.
House sergeant-at-arms William McFarland said
in an email Monday that members will have access to $20,000 per month to bulk up their security at their homes, district offices and while traveling.

Thanksgiving in NYC: Inside the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Rehearsals as Broadway Casts Prep Their Big Performance (People)
Each year, the parade’s opening hour showcases numbers from current Broadway shows, giving viewers across the country a taste of what’s happening onstage in NYC. Expect sleek old-school flair from Just in Time, the new musical built around the life of crooner Bobby Darin and infectious rhythm and salsa-infused dancing from the vibrant company of Buena Vista Social Club.
Before the world-famous Thanksgiving Day Parade sets off on Thursday in midtown Manhattan, the iconic balloons and floats that make up the procession come to life Wednesday on the Upper West Side, according to the West Side Rag.
Crowd favorites such as Snoopy, Smokey the Bear, Spider Man, and Dora will be inflated the day before the parade. In total, there will be 34 balloons and 28 floats in this year’s rendition of the event, including five new balloons and seven new floats, with Labubus among the characters making their way toward Herald Square.
The inflation event will take place outside the American Museum of Natural History from West 77th to 81st streets, between Columbus and Central Park West, with viewing hours from 1 to 6 PM. Check out the West Side Rag’s top tips for the inflation event here.
